Decking installation is the process of building a raised platform for outdoor use. It can be made from a variety of materials, including timber, composite, and plastic. At Never Bin Greener, we want you to have a decking solution that combines a quality finish with an affordable price. We install all decking professionally in accordance with landscaping guidance. At Never Bin Greener we go above & beyond to make sure your decking lasts for the maximum duration. When fitting the structure, we always use treated timber, we protect all posts that stabilise the framework by wrapping in damp proof coursing. This post is then installed by digging down and placing 600-900mm into the ground before then concreting to fully secure. All rails (6×2) are wrapped in protective tape or painted in blackjack, blackjack is an effective waterproof, weatherproof, corrosion-resistant paint that is coated onto the timber to extend the life expectancy of the timber. We then add joist hangers to every joist & use 180mm bolts to secure all the framework to the posts, this is of course after adding hundreds or thousands (dependant on the size of the deck) of timber fixing screws to fully secure everything. After the framework we then add the boards, we only use premium boards at Never Bin Greener & make sure every board is fixed to every joist to finish everything off nicely!

The Decking Process:

  1. The first step in decking installation is to prepare the substructure. This involves levelling the ground and installing posts & beams to support the decking. The spacing of the posts or beams will depend on the type of decking material being used.
  2. Once the substructure is in place, the decking boards can be laid. Timber decking boards are typically screwed to the joists, while composite decking boards can be installed into place using T brackets.
  3. The last step is to seal the decking boards. This will help to protect them from the elements and extend their lifespan. The finish can be stain, varnish, or paint in a range of colours and finishes.

Decking Types:

  • It is important to choose the right type of decking material for your needs. Timber decking is made from natural wood, which is a renewable resource and more affordable, but it requires more maintenance.
  • Composite decking is made from a combination of wood and plastic. It is more expensive, but it is low-maintenance and requires no staining or sealing.

Ultimately, the best type of decking material for you will depend on your budget, needs, and preferences.
